A local cat was volunteered by its owners, who wish to remain anony-mouse, to undergo a groundbreaking experiment in the name of science. They wanted their little Tommy to be the first cat in the world to have a human brain surgically implanted and, to their initial delight, it actually worked! What they didn’t expect was for Tommy, after his two month’s of recovery from the 18 hour operation, to decide to leave home and set up in business. Tommy is now the proud owner of a new fish restaurant called Tommy’s. He spoke with us briefly yesterday to tell us that everything was going great. His press coverage had done wonders for the restaurant and people were coming from all over the country to meet the famous human-brained cat and sample his wonderful fish recipes. Tommy’s new brain had once belonged to a Jason Birds, a car mechanic from Leeds who’d generously offered his brain to science; while he was still alive we understand. When we asked Tommy if there were any side effects he said not as far as he knew but he had gained a little weight, and had a keen interest in fixing cars.

These days the music industry is over-saturated with music that just doesn’t stand up to what we’ve all heard in the past; as such, we will always be vaguely disgusted with certain music that we hear. How do we remedy this? We have a plague that only kills music. Or, we reminisce about bands that make good music! We’ve put together a small list of bands that should make more music. aphex twin It has been over 12 years since the 2001 release of Drukqs and over 12 years since we have received a vicious ear-bashing from the electronic styling’s of one of the most influential acts in electronic music history; Richard David James of aphex twin. For people who aren’t lucky enough to have listened to the genius of this man should check out his tune windowlicker to get a very basic hold of one of the leading influences in electronic, acid techno, industrial. The out there and the depraved Richard told Brit lad magazine (Another Man) that he had over 6 albums worth of unreleased music. However, not long after in the June 2011, Richard explained to a Spanish music magazine (El Pais) that it was more like 10 or 11! So what’s keeping him? Could it be the divorce from his wife? Or another factor interfering with his devotion to technical IDM/industrial music. What to listen to while we wait? Drukqs What the next album will sound like? Drugs Damien Rice Irish misery guts, Damien Rice has ...

Today we have the pleasure of introducing a young an upcoming tattoo store, here in our very own Nottingham. Skin City has been open for going on two weeks now and is fast receiving more and more clientele from all walks of life, asking head honcho/artists at Skin City, Marek Lewicki. Marek has been tattooing for seven years and has the experience and the skill and the talent to prove it. In addition, Marek has also been a part of a few guest artist sessions at his twin brothers Skin City shop in Dublin. In said shop, he encountered what he recalled as the weirdest tattoo he’s ever done! The tattoo was a giraffe with a monkey on the head, reaching towards a golden sun, all in a watercolour style that came out very well! When asked about the tattoo, the customer said that it was an illustration from her favourite book as a child. Which also manages to reach into the side of tattooing that Marek prefers; Marek takes pride in his enjoyment of the more complex and personal side of tattooing that enables him to flex his talent and creative muscles. The shop also has a few new artists set to come on board with them in the June/July time, so stay tuned to them for all sorts of new work, coming soon. With rates at £60 per hour and a minimum charge of £40 Skin City is set to provide quality work for an affordable and easy on the wallet budget. The shop ...

The tax-payers money is a very important matter that should not be taken lightly. That being said, new research has uncovered who the happiest man in Britain may be… According to the findings, the happiest man is likely to be a 60-year-old married teacher named Steve, living close to Edinburgh. The study, carried out by Cadbury Heroes, also claimed that he is likely to have grey hair, blue eyes, wear glasses and love spending time with his family and friends. Women named Tina and Rebecca and men named Gary and Chris were more linked to doom and gloom, while people called Tom, Wendy and Mary joined Steve in the happy category. The lighter someone’s hair was, the happier they were found to be, and the most joyful Britons were also more likely to have blue eyes and wear glasses.

Hold on, not all of them, just a bunch of offensive and obscure ones. New Zealand officials have released a list of baby names put forward by parents that were rejected because they were too bizarre or offensive, including “Lucifer” and “Mafia No Fear”. The list of 77 names reveals one child was set to be called “Anal” before the Department of Internal Affairs vetoed the proposal, while another narrowly avoided being dubbed “.” or full stop. Other names on the list included “4Real”, “V8″, and “Queen Victoria”. In some cases, parents appeared to have lost any inspiration for coming up with a moniker for their offspring, wanting to call the latest addition to the family simply “2nd”, “3rd” or “5th”. The department’s rules forbid any name that might imply a child holds an official title or rank, so “King”, “Duke” and “Princess” were among those that had been turned down most since 2001. “Justice” was the most popular, having been rejected 62 times, although “Justus” and “Juztice” also failed to gain official approval. Do you think there are more names that should be banned? Let us know!

Everyone remembers our post about music videos we’d never forget, right? Course you did, it’s right over here. Well, we had the idea of documenting the rockier videos that we won’t be soon forgetting. Whether that that’s because of how outlandish they are, or because they were so very prominent at a certain moment in time. Where do we start with these rock videos? Well, in this writer’s opinion, there is only one place we can start when it comes to rock videos and the memorable factor… 5. Electric Six – Gaybar We had to start at the smuttiest of smut degradation in music videos. Desecrating American history and icons has never been so worthy of a quick giggle an ass wiggle. Electric Six have, since the release of Gaybar, actually released eight albums, with the ninth on the way! So don’t forget that! I’m sure they’d appreciate not being yelled at at every gig to JUST play that track. 4. Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Yes, yes, this tune did have to be here. Why? Despite it being included in one of the staple comedy films of the nineties Wayne’s World, this track is one of the most absolute accomplished rock tracks ever. Piano, soaring vocals, delicious riffing and a crescendo that everyone will jive along to. 3. Fountains of Wayne – Stacey’s Mom Another crowd pleaser, another one-hit wonder. Fountains of Wayne made tsunami style waves in the music scene, all the way back in 2003, with brilliantly comic video and tune, Stacy’s Mom. Since then, the band has been ...

Recently, the talent from Nottingham has been rather skinny, if you know what we mean? With Jake Bugg rising to fame and our athletics teams calming down after the Olympics, what’s next for Notts? The Terrible Twins are what’s next and what’s next after that. No, not John and Edward Jedward, we’re talking about: Full time actors, fitness models, former champion amateur boxers, these two lads are bench pressing Nottingham back into the silver-light with their recent auditions for the WWE and other exploits into fame. The guys also mentor guys and dolls from the gym, offering advise on how people can improve their workouts. Recently, they posted this steller video about their workout regime. The lads are on their way to fame and will surely take the Nottingham name into stardom. And as such, you should support them! Drop them a like here! Expect to see them on the big screen soon.

Two sets of the confusing road markings appeared along the 60ft long path which measures just four feet wide and is too narrow for cars to fit down. Swindon council has blamed the error on contractors after residents complained the double yellow lines had been a ‘waste of time and a waste of money’. ‘It seems that our contractors forgot just how big cars actually are when they painted this one,’ a council spokesman said.‘We will be taking it up with them.’ There is just 13 inches of space between the two sets of yellow lines – which is roughly the width of just one tyre on a supercar and just a bit wider than the average person. Only the world’s smallest car, the Peel P50, could just about make it through the alleyway, although its driver might struggle to park up and actually get out of the vehicle. Resident Ray Mudhar said: ‘It is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen. ‘When me and my mate saw it we were just laughing our heads off. It’s a waste of time, waste of money and waste of material.’ ‘It’s all rather silly, we laughed at it but it has definitely been a waste of money.’ Thank you to SWNS for the fantastic picture!
